Extremely strong rare earth magnet! This cylindrical neodymium magnet measures 20mm high and 12mm in diameter, and has a massive pull strength of 17kg. Provides a great demonstration of the strength of rare earth magnets. Also works well with our magnetic putty.

Age: 12 + with adult supervision. This magnet is not a toy and is not intended for use by young children.

How does it work?

Neodymium magnets are made from a mix (alloys) of rare earth elements: neodymium, iron and boron (Nd2Fe14B), and are the strongest type of permanent magnets.

Test the strength of this beauty by using our metal slinky. Your students might be very surprised when this relatively small magnet lifts many more coils than much larger, weaker magnets like common ferrites.

Rare earth magnets are brittle and can chip or break when dropped on a hard surface or allowed to smash together with another magnet or a piece of metal. These magnets must be used with care, they can disrupt sensitive electronic equipment like computers, and can leap together from a distance and pinch fingers.

CHOKING HAZARD
Small parts not suitable for children under 3 years. Should a child or any person ingest magnets, seek medical help immediately.

NO LOOSE METAL OBJECTS
Do not store or handle magnets in proximity to iron, steel or other ferrous materials or items. Serious injury or property damage may result.

NO PACEMAKERS
NO METALLIC IMPLANTS
NO NEUROSTIMULATORS

Persons with pacemakers, metallic implants or neurostimulators must not handle magnets. Serious injury may result.

RISK OF DATA LOSS
Permanent magnetic fields may corrupt, degauss or destroy data stored in a magnetic state. This includes floppy disks, hard drives and credit cards.
