Stirling Engine Generator
This fascinating engine continuously converts thermal (or heat) energy from an external source into mechanical or kinetic energy. A must for the science classroom or science enthusiast in us all.
Age: 14 + (this is not a toy and must be used under adult supervision)
What You Get
1 x Stirling Engine.
How Does It Work?
Patented in 1816 by the Reverend Doctor Robert Stirling, this heat-engine was designed to replace notoriously dangerous steam engines during the industrial revolution. This scale model runs on the expansion and contraction of air. It uses the Stirling cycle, converting an external heat source and the heat difference to mechanical energy. A quiet, clean engine that's still used today in very specialized applications like submarines.
