Solder Flux Paste - 56g Tub

This solder paste has a mildly-activated agent to provide high quality fluxing, to reduce solder waste and to produce high quality soldered joints. The active ingredients in the solder flux are non-ionic and non-conductive, including when moisture is present. The rosin based paste is ideal for situations when post-soldering cleaning is not possible and when the residue must be highly insulating.

The term flux comes from the Latin word Fluxus meaning “flow”. It is a chemical cleaning agent.

Rosin based pastes are made of rosin, a natural extract from pine trees.

Why flux is used in soldering?

The main function of solder flux is to remove the dirt and oxidized layer on the metallic surface to be soldered and prepare a clean surface to ensure solid bonding. All metals (except pure gold and platinum) oxidize in air at room temperature. The rate of oxidation can increase with humidity and temperature. Metal oxides are a form of corrosion and are barrier to the formation of strong bonds in the joining process of soldering.

After the soldering process, cleaning may be required to remove the flux residues. However this is not required during the use of this product.
