Flow Ring (Kinetic Rings)

The unique design, which takes a single piece of thin metal and coils it around itself, creates this amazing movement. Simply place your arm through the 'donut hole' in the centre of the rings, and see for yourself!

Not only will you wonder how it's possible, you'll be dazzled by the beautiful shimmering effect that the movement creates! You can even try it on objects like broom handles, or try passing it from one person's arm to another!

How Does it Work?

Kinetic rings are similar to a slinky, except that instead of forming a helix/spring shape, the kinetic rings coil through themselves to form their unique shapes. They are one long piece of metal, wrapped through itself over and over, until one end finally connects back to the other.

When the kinetic rings are stretched into the distinctive donut shape, it is like stretching out a slinky - the rings seek the 'lowest energy state'. In the case of a slinky, this is the compressed state. For the kinetic rings, this state is the donut shape, but with no hole!

The rings are able to move, seemingly on their own, because they want to return to this state. Similar to a wheel rolling down an incline, the restoring force provides the rings with the required momentum to move on their own.
