This should be one of your first science kits! Explore the magic of magnetism at home or in the classroom with this engaging all-in-one kit.
It includes two stages of experiments: beginning and advanced, teaching the fun of magnetism to young and old science wiz kids.
The large, color coded magnets are easy to handle and are especially suited to younger kids - 4 to 6 years of age. The first 15 activities explore metals that stick to magnets, magnetic poles, attraction and repulsion, magnetic fields through materials, and temporary magnets. You'll love drawing with iron filings, discovering what sticks to magnets, levitating and bouncing rings, swimming a duck, making a temporary magnet, detecting iron, magnet fishing, and playing with magnetic poles.
The more advanced projects in the second part of the book are suited to kids a little older - 7 to 10 years of age. Build an electromagnet and then flip the poles, construct a compass, visualize the lines of magnetic force, explore compass directions, and discover how motors work. With such a range of activities at different levels, this kit will last through the years, revisited again and again as the junior scientist matures and gains knowledge.
Step-by-step instructions and full-colour illustrations explain the "why" as well as the "how" of the various projects. This Science Wiz Magnetism Kit has won two prestigious awards - National Parenting Magazine Award & Creative Child Magazine Award!
Take advantage of the animations on the SciencecWiz website to deepen and extend your comprehension.

The award winning ScienceWiz line got its start in 1995 when we released our first title ScienceWiz Electricity. Our line of science kits stemmed from Dr. Penny Norman's volunteer work teaching science in her children's elementary schools and her ScienceWiz after school and summer programs. With initial development supported by grants from the National Science Foundation and the Franklin Foundation, each of our kits is created with the goal of teaching fundamental scientific concepts to children through hands-on play.
