What
you get
Thunder
maker in a box (approx. 19cm high)
How
does it work?
Wobble
and shake the thunder tube with one hand to make the attached spring dance. The
vibrations in the long, narrow spring are an example of standing wave (a wave
that remains in a constant position) because the vibrations are moving in the
opposite direction to the spring. When the sound waves reach the tube or
diaphragm, they resonate up and down against the tube and result in an amplified
thunder sound. Try creating different sounds by changing the strength of your
shake or by running your fingers down the spring.
